For nearly 190 years, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture has collected and shared stories about Virginia’s past, but we are also collecting and preserving documents, images, and objects that will help future generations understand our present.
Virginians are making history every day as we adapt to the effects of a global pandemic, confront inequalities in our community, and make countless personal decisions that shape the future of our Commonwealth.
We hope you will help us allow future generations to understand what it felt like to live through our time by sharing your story, uploading a meaningful moment captured in a photograph or recorded on video, or suggesting a personal object that represents your unique experience.
We want to collect the stories of Virginians from across the state, and we need your help. We understand that today’s experiences may be too raw to share at this moment, but we will continue to document our diverse and rich history and look forward to engaging with you when you’re ready.
A selection of material submitted through this form may be shared through VMHC social media accounts. Ultimately, a representative sampling of submitted materials will be preserved at the VMHC for future generations. Read about the VMHC Gift Terms and Conditions.
