What a year it has been! When we gathered for our last State of the Museum presentation in the fall of 2022, VMHC President & CEO Jamie O. Bosket reported on the recent completion of our extensive renovation and initial signs of success. Beautiful new gallery spaces, new meeting spaces, new guest amenities, and a reimagined interpretive approach all contributed to a wholly new VMHC experience. Since then, we are proud to report, the momentum has only grown. The VMHC has seen record-setting museum attendance and statewide engagement. We completed the exciting merger of the John Marshall Center for Constitutional History & Civics (JMC) as part of the VMHC and launched the new America 250 initiative. Most recently, as we hope you saw, we received the 2023 Award for Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History (the nation’s leading and largest history museum association).

It is our pleasure to invite you to our annual State of the Museum briefing on Tuesday, September 26, at 5:30 pm. Light hors d’oeuvres and libations will be provided. All that we do is made possible by you, our generous members and supporters. We look forward to welcoming you back to the VMHC and sharing both our successes of the past year and plans for the year ahead. It promises to be another step forward in our push to set the national standard for state history museums. Thank you, as ever, for helping us get there.
