Richmond, VA – The Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) is pleased to announce the museum’s events and programs for September.

Banner Lectures

ESCAPE!
Thursday, September 2 at 12:00pm

In this Banner Lecture, join the VMHC and historian Robert P. Watson for a discussion of his new book about the Confederacy’s infamous Libby Prison and the Civil War’s largest jail break.

George Washington: The Making of a Leader
Wednesday, September 15 at 12:00pm

In this Banner Lecture, join the VMHC and historian David O. Stewart for a discussion of his new book about George Washington’s rise as a leader.

These programs are free and will be livestreamed on the VMHC Facebook and YouTube channels. Due to construction, a small number of in-person tickets will be available for VMHC members ONLY, by advanced registration on the event listing page. (Not a member yet? Join today!)

Stories at the Museum
1st & 3rd Saturdays at 10:00am
September 4 and September 18

Aimed at pre-K and early elementary learners, the educator-led Stories at the Museum programs feature a read-aloud story time in one of our museum galleries, paired with a related craft activity!

Curators At Work
Virginia’s Brewed Past
Friday, September 10 at 12:00pm

Join VMHC Curator Paige Newman for a virtual Curators at Work program as she explores Virginia’s beer history through recipes, advertisements, photographs of local watering holes, and other beer-related artifacts that will be sure to wet your whistle.

This program will be streamed live on the VMHC Facebook and YouTube Channels.

Member Mondays at Virginia House
2nd & 3rd Mondays at 5:30pm
September 13 and September 20

Member Mondays are back for the fall season! Enjoy a respite in the beautiful gardens at historic Virginia House with your own picnic or curated refreshments from local purveyors, including cheese plates from Truckle Cheesemongers and bottled cider from Blue Bee Cider.
