Richmond, Va. – The Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) is pleased to announce its November programming and events.
Lecture Series
- Thursday, November 3rd at 12:00pm - The Old Bay Line by
Join the VMHC and author Jack Shaum in a discussion about his book 122 Years On The Old Bay Line, which is the name the Baltimore Steam Packet company was best known for in most of its 122- year history of nightly carrying passengers and freight on the Chesapeake Bay between Baltimore and Norfolk. These large vessels operated year-round and were famed for their cuisine, impeccable service, and fine accommodation.
Tickets are required for in-person admission. Tickets are not needed if you would prefer to join us live on YouTube or Facebook.

Join the Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture for an evening with Richard Rothstein, author of The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America.
This event is free for VMHC Members and Community Foundation partners (with promo code); $10.00 for Non-members. Tickets can be purchased here.
First Fridays at VMHC

Join the fun at the VMHC on the first Friday of every month. This family-friendly event includes free museum admission, cafe specials, and family activities.
Stories at the Museum
- Saturday, November 5th at 10:30 am - If I Ran for President
Aimed at early elementary learners, our educator-led Stories at the Museum program will feature a read-aloud story time in one of our related museum galleries, paired with a craft activity!
This event is included in museum admission, but registration is required.
Virtual: Movie Mythbusting
- Tuesday, November 15th at 7:00 pm - National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
Join VMHC for a discussion of National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets (PG). Watch the film in advance, whenever or however works best for you, and then log into an interactive Zoom presentation where we'll talk about what's true, what's not, and make connections to our collections
