Richmond, VA – The Virginia Museum of History & Culture’s HistoryConnects program received the 2022-2023 Pinnacle Award from The Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration, a leader in distance learning.

HistoryConnects is a virtual learning program for K-12 students and adult audiences. “We’re delighted by this recognition,” said Hailey Fenner, Manager of Digital Learning. “We make history come alive for students, offer teachers a resource that’s aligned with their standards of learning, and showcase our museum’s collection in an engaging way.”

Each program in HistoryConnects’ catalog of more than twenty offerings has been designed to be student-centered and foster curiosity in the classroom. With experienced educators and engaging digital content, HistoryConnects programs utilize primary sources from the vast collection of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture to tell the story of Virginia. These programs are designed to reinforce both national and state standards of learning to meet the needs of any classroom or school.

“Our programs foster a love of history, and our teachers tell us it’s an important tool in their teaching toolbox,” said Fenner.

Each year, CILC recognizes content providers for their “Programs of Distinction” which is determined by the outstanding ratings they received on evaluations submitted by the educators and activity directors who have participated in live virtual field trips. The VMHC has been recognized by CILC every year with this award since 2012.

HistoryConnects is made possible in part by the Hugh V. White Jr, Outreach Education Fund. For more information or to book a program, please visit VirginiaHistory.org/HistoryConnects.
