The Virginia Museum of History & Culture is governed by a distinguished, statewide Board of Trustees and led by President & CEO Jamie O. Bosket. Bosket has served as President & CEO since 2017 and is aided by a six-person executive team and a talented group of staff and volunteers.
The VMHC is owned and operated by the Virginia Historical Society—a private, non-profit organization. It is the oldest cultural organization in Virginia, and one of the most distinguished history organizations in the nation.
Our mission is to connect people to America's past through the unparalleled story of Virginia. By collecting, preserving, and interpreting the Commonwealth's history, we link past with present and inspire future generations.
Taking guidance from our members, community, staff, and trustees, in 2018 we formed a thoughtful new strategic plan that charts our path toward a more vibrant future for this exceptionally worthy institution.
