About Us
Our Leadership
The Virginia Museum of History & Culture is governed by a distinguished, statewide Board of Trustees and led by President & CEO Jamie O. Bosket. Bosket has served as President & CEO since 2017 and is aided by a six-person executive team and a talented group of staff and volunteers.
Our History
The VMHC is owned and operated by the Virginia Historical Society—a private, non-profit organization. It is the oldest cultural organization in Virginia, and one of the most distinguished history organizations in the nation.
Our Mission, Vision, & Values
Our mission is to connect people to America's past through the unparalleled story of Virginia. By collecting, preserving, and interpreting the Commonwealth's history, we link past with present and inspire future generations.
Our Strategic Plan
In April 2024, and with guidance from guests, supporters, community members, partners, volunteers, and staff, the VMHC Board of Trustees approved a new Strategic Plan to guide the institution through 2027.
Our Policies & Transparency
The VMHC strives to be as transparent as possible, sharing our policies and official documents with members, supporters and the public. Detailed policies and financial statements are posted here.
Associations, Memberships, & Groups
The VMHC is a proud member of several professional museum organizations, and we have established several Advisory Committees to provide guidance on key projects.
