Richmond, VA – The Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) is pleased to announce a new event series for local families, Friday Fridays at VMHC! The first Friday of every month, now through 2023, the VMHC will extend it hours from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with free museum admission, food trucks, family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and happy hour specials.

“With our recent transformative renovation, we have seen tens-of-thousands of Virginians visit their state history museums, especially families,” Michael Plumb, the Vice President for Guest Engagement at the VMHC said in a statement. “We are eager to provide more opportunities for even more families to visit and enjoy. First Fridays at VMHC will be a lively community-focused monthly event that will adapt with new activities throughout the year.”

Some of the family-friendly offerings planned for November 4th include a bounce house, face-paintings, and seasonal gallery scavenger hunts. Activities geared towards our youngest guests will vary from month to month. For adults, there will be live music, $2 off wine and beer in the museum café, as well as specialty mocktails. A curated selection of regional food trucks will also be on site.

In addition, the museum encourages guests to use First Fridays at VMHC as an opportunity to check out special changing exhibitions, like American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith, which is on display through December 31st, 2022, and Cheers, Virginia! the museum’s most recent exhibition, which runs through February 9, 2022.

More information, including music lineups, food truck offerings, etc. will be available at VirginiaHistory.org/FirstFridays.
