We strive to connect visitors with our remarkable collection of artifacts, manuscripts, and artwork. Visiting groups are encouraged to call ahead to arrange for a guided tour with a museum educator or choose a self-guided tour and view the museum at their own pace. Contact Education Coordinator, Cece D'Arville, at cd'arville@virginiahistory.org or 804.342.9694 in order to book.
Guided Tours
Your time at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture can be enhanced by booking a guided tour, whether you’re in town for a family reunion, looking for an activity for your church group, or interested in a corporate outing for your employees.
We require a minimum of ten people for a guided tour. Reservations for a guided tour must be booked at least three weeks in advance. Your group can choose to explore one of our temporary exhibits or one of our award-winning permanent exhibits. We do not offer guided tours without reservation. Please note your tour is not confirmed until you hear from the Manager of Museum Programs.
Tours price at $14/person for up to a one-hour tour. Tours price at $17/person for up to a two-hour tour. Your tour ticket does include the price of general admission, so you are welcome to stay and explore on your own after the guided tour is over.
Self-Guided Tours
We request that groups of ten or more inform us of their plans to self-guide through the museum in order to be eligible for the group discount rate of $10/person. Groups of fewer than ten people do not need to make a reservation to view the galleries on their own.
