As part of The Richmond Times-Dispatch's live election night coverage of the 2022 mid-terms, Matt Pochily explored the American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith exhibition on display at the VMHC and a handful of stories and perspectives on democracy. Developed by the National Museum of American History and adapted for travel by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, the exhibition examined the continuing story of America’s bold experiment in a government “of, by, and for the people" and the history of civic engagement in the U.S. through Smithsonian collection artifacts, contemporary objects, and touchable artifacts.
